Medina County was formed in February 1812. The county now has an area of 435 square miles. Seventeen civil townships constitute Medina County. They are Brunswick, Chatham, Granger, Guilford, Harrisville, Hinckley, Homerville, Lafayette, Litchfield, Liverpool, Medina, Montville, Sharon, Spencer, Wadsworth, Westfield, and York. With some of the most beautiful historic architecture in the State of Ohio, Medina County is a well worthwhile area to call home. Most of the communities within the county have a town square, gazebo and authentic Victorian buildings encircling the square. Strong community effort and commitment have helped to maintain and preserve the beauty of these squares for all to enjoy. Medina, the county seat, is twenty-eight miles southwest of Cleveland and is known throughout the United States and Canada as the home of the A.I. Root Company, bee culturists, manufacturers of bee keepers’ supplies, and retailers of fine home candles. The Medina County Convention and Visitors Bureau offers a “…vast array of festivals, shopping, attractions, historic architecture and eateries (that) make Medina County a special place to visit and live.” Discover Medina’s turn-of-the-century charm, well-maintained neighborhoods, and homes of every style and range, from condos and suburban tracts to horse farms and country cottages; you’ll find the house you’re looking for.
